How we work

One small team that owns the work from sketch to support.

Synhex is a small studio that does custom web and mobile work for businesses past the point where a Squarespace template helps. Most clients come to us because something internal is breaking, or because a competitor shipped the thing they kept meaning to build.

We pick the simplest stack that solves the problem, write code in plain languages other developers can read, and keep the project list small enough that we know your codebase by name. No subcontracting. No mystery PMs. The person who scoped the build is the person writing it.

Fixed price per phase, source on your account, thirty days post-launch included. After that you can self-host and call us when you need us, or stay on a monthly retainer. Most clients stay.

The shape of an engagement

Three phases, plain language, fixed price each.

    Discovery

    1 to 2 weeks · fixed bid

    We talk to the people who will actually use it, look at what's already running, and write the scope down in plain English. You get a written estimate, a timeline, and a fixed bid before any production code is written. If we're not the right fit, the discovery deliverable is yours to take elsewhere.
  2. 02

    Build

    4 to 14 weeks · weekly demos

    Two-week sprints. Friday demos. Staging URL from day one so you can poke at things. We use the language of the business in commits and tickets, so a non-technical founder can read along. If priorities shift mid-build, we re-cut the next sprint, not the entire bid.
  3. 03

    Hand-off & support

    30 days free, then optional retainer

    We transfer the repo, the hosting, the analytics, and a written runbook so the next developer (you, your in-house team, or us) can pick it up. Thirty days of post-launch fixes included. After that, monthly retainers cover ongoing work or you can take it solo and call when things break.

How long does a typical project take?
A marketing site lands in 2 to 4 weeks. A custom web app or mobile app runs 6 to 16 weeks depending on scope. We give a fixed timeline after a discovery call once we understand the requirements.
How much does it cost?
Most projects fall between $5,000 and $50,000. Marketing sites start lower; custom platforms with auth, payments, and integrations sit higher. We quote a fixed price per phase, not hourly.
Who owns the code and the IP?
You do. Once a project is paid for, the source code, designs, and content are yours. We hand over the repo, hosting access, and all credentials.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. Send yours over and we sign before the discovery call. If you don't have one, we have a mutual NDA template.
What happens after launch?
Every project includes 30 days of post-launch support to fix anything that breaks. After that, we offer monthly retainers for ongoing maintenance, feature work, and on-call support, or you can self-host and contact us as needed.
Do you work with non-technical founders?
Most of our clients are non-technical. We translate between business goals and technical decisions, and we use plain English in every project update.
